Is this Blog Dead? … Well…
On the one hand, I am writing this very post here, right. And I promise that this is not a “so long and thanks for all the fish” post.
On the other hand, the previous post was 226 days ago. And that is not a number of a healthy, living website.
So, the answer to the titular question must be: “it’s complicated.”
What happened then? I started this blog to share my knowledge, findings, and projects, especially around software development, starting from my time as Ph.D. It covered my projects at the university as well as my private projects. When I moved from academia into the industry, obviously, the focus shifted to my private projects, as I can no longer freely talk about everything I do in my day job. And, with time, my private software projects became less and less interesting, in my opinion, at least in terms of new stuff being discovered.
It’s not that I don’t write personal software anymore, far from it. You can have a look at my Github page, and you will see a continuous stream of updates. All those are small tools, tailored specifically towards my needs. Nothing fancy or spectacular. So, I simply did not encounter anything which I would consider worthwhile writing here about.
I also covered non-software hobby projects on this blog. And, yes, I still have plenty of hobbies which fight for my attention in my very limited spare time: gaming, of course, but also Maker projects, including 3d printing. Some time ago, I rediscovered the Warhammer miniature hobby for me. I also have plenty of awesome ideas involving electronics and microcontrollers. And, I have a couple of long-term software projects which I will not give up. So, there are lots which I do and enjoy. Sady, a lot more than I find time for.
And I am really not into social media. So, I don’t want to go to many platforms and present my projects and stuff. That’s not my style. I started this blog as something like a diary. I mean, I wrote about stuff I wanted to write about, not because I believe someone should read it. Just because I wanted to write it down. In this spirit I will continue with this blog. I will write about my little projects, be those software, maker-stuff, Warhammer, 3D printing, or something completely different. There will be large pauses between the posts. But I really will not abandon this website.
